The TULIP Sustainability Center, with the motto of sharing experiences in structuring sustainability on a strategic basis and integrating social, environmental and economic considerations with sustainable development goals, is now in its 23rd year of serving all stakeholders. Our goal is to be at the forefront of the fight against climate change by focusing on the improvement of processes with a holistic view of the system approach, the raising of social awareness and the implementation of the sustainable management approach widely by the masses. In this context, our training and consultancy areas are constantly in development in line with the dissemination of resilience and flexibility mechanisms. In all our processes, we ensure the integration of sustainable development into business processes with systems thinking based on a holistic and interdisciplinary approach on a scientific basis. TULIP Sustainability Center was established in 2002 by Şafak Özsoy to provide training and consultancy services aimed at integrating the systems approach into business processes. The name TULIP derives from the Anatolian term “dulbent-tulipa,” used by Anatolian women who likened the tulip’s petals to a dulbent (veil), which later evolved into the Latin word tulip. Inspired by the tulip - a delicate yet resilient flower that thrives under challenging conditions - the name reflects TULIP’s vision and philosophy.
Now in our 23rd year, we continue to make a difference by sharing our expertise. By transferring refined knowledge from our areas of specialization into various industries, TULIP plays a pioneering role in enhancing social sustainability. With the motto “Sharing Experience”, we differentiate ourselves in our sector and operate on both corporate and urban scales to promote institutional sustainability.TULIP introduced Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) training to the industrial sector for the first time in 2003, laying the foundations for integrating sustainability into business processes through its own training programs. The CSR training program developed in 2003 evolved into the Corporate Sustainability Certificate Program in 2017.Our journey, which began with consulting on compliance with Turkish Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety regulations, later expanded to include ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 management systems consultancy. Over time, our focus shifted toward sustainability-driven management transformation. The initial steps toward providing carbon footprint and water footprint calculation, training, and consultancy services were taken in 2012.In 2004, by incorporating corporate emergency response into our processes, we laid the foundations for emergency response management and resilience transition. That same year, we began following SAI conferences and providing consultancy under the SA 8000 standard.In 2007, TULIP was authorized by the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change to prepare emergency response plans under Law No. 5312 on “Principles for Intervention and Compensation of Damages in Marine Pollution by Oil and Hazardous and Noxious Substances (HNS).”We were also authorized by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure to provide training to operation and support teams and to conduct Level 1 drills in response to oil and other hazardous substance spills. In 2009, the BOTAŞ Risk Assessment and Emergency Response Plan prepared by TULIP became one of the first ministry-approved emergency response plans.In 2009, TULIP delivered the first Turkish-language training on ISO 14064 - Greenhouse Gas Emissions Quantification and Reporting. The same year, following the European Union’s announcement of the Energy Efficiency Package, we began providing training and consultancy on ISO 50001 Energy Management SystemIn 2011, TULIP obtained environmental consultancy authorization, officially incorporating environmental consulting services into its portfolio. In 2012, our brands İKLİM KARBON and SEASPILL were registered. Between 2012 and 2015, we provided consultancy services on preparing safety reports and emergency response plans within the scope of managing major industrial accidents. From 2013 onward, our consultancy programs have focused on integrating corporate sustainability into business processes.In 2017, we launched the Corporate Sustainability Certificate Program, and in 2020, we introduced the Sustainable Cities Training Program, incorporating resilience and reporting into urban sustainability performance indicators. In 2018, we initiated our integrated and sustainable reporting projects, while also diversifying our services in sustainability strategy development and management consultancy.In 2022, we began offering consultancy services to guide companies on planning their transition toward Net Zero targets.In 2024, TULIP further advanced its system to provide training and consultancy services aligned with the Türkiye Sustainability Reporting Standards (TSRS), developing specialized implementation training for TSRS 1 and TSRS 2.
